Why Tiktok should be banned? Youtube Vs Tiktok Conntroversy.

Amid the lockdown, people in the country are demanding a complete ban for the popular chinese app "Tiktok" formerly called"Musically". This is not the first time when, people are demanding for the ban of the popular chinese app. Earlier it was banned by the Madras High court for 3 months in April 2019 for promoting pornographic content and harming the Indian culture. But the ban was lifted soon and it was again available in Playstore, Apple store for download. It is not only popular in India, it is also popular in many other countries too. It might have gained huge popularity, but it is one of the most controversial app in India as well.

 The reason behind so much demand for the ban of the  popular chinese app is the recent"Youtube Vs Tik tok" controversy. This controversy sparked so much anger in the people that, they are blindly giving negative reviews to Tik tok in play store. In just a span of 3 days, they have brought the rating of the app from 4.5 to 1.3. 

 So, it all started when famous Youtuber" Elvish Yadav" made a roasting video on Tiktokers. Earlier so many youtubers roasted the app and its users for its shitty contents. But this video  made by Elvish  offended some of the biggest tiktokers like Aamir Siddiqui, Adnan(Member of the tiktok group Team 07 led by famous tiktoker Mr Faisu". Aamir, Adnan and other some tiktokers showed their disappointment on instagram live by accusing the youtubers to use their content in their videos to gain views without giving credit to them. Also Amir alleged that, their engagement with audience and brand value are higher than youtubers. He also suggested other tiktokers to make channels on Youtube and defeat the youtubers who are roasting them in terms of views and engagement and force those youtubers to delete their channel. Where as Adnan alleged that, some youtubers are trying to roast them by abusing their family.  After all this,one of the famous youtuber's of India Mr Carryminati, who is specially known for his roastings, made a roasting video on Amir  which whole heartedly liked by the audience including me. He roasted tiktokers like anything. It became so popular that, it was on the verge of becoming the Most Liked Non-Musical Video on Youtube. But due to mass reporting by tiktokers it was taken down by Youtube officials. Not only  Carryminati's video, but also Video of some other renowned youtuber's like Elvish Yadav, Lakshay Choudhary were also taken down by the Youtube. After this many famous youtubers like Hindustani Bhau, Bhuban Bam, Ashis Chanchlani came in support of Carryminati and other youtubers who roasted tiktokers.  This sparked so much anger among people that, they decided to bring down the rating of Tiktok and they have successfully brought the rating down from 4.5 to 1.3 in just 3 days.







After this controversy, another controversy started when a tik tok video of Faisal Siddiqui( brother of Amir Sidiqi) went viral, where he was seen promoting acid attack indirectly. It went so much viral that the Rekha Sharma, National Commissioner For Women, sent a notice to ban the account Of Faisal Siddiqui to the Tiktok India. Due to pressure from public and govt.officials, they banned the account of Faisal Siddiqui.  The controversy was not going to be end soon. After the Faisal Siddiqui"s video, another video went viral where the user was allegedly promoting "Sexual Harrasment Of Girls". Then such videos came into limelight. This time everyone including Rekha Sharama, NCW demanded that Tiktok should be banned in India. She tweeted that Tiktok not only promotes violence against women but also destroying the life of youth's , so she is discussing with the govt. to ban the application permanently as soon as possible. Now, it seems that Govt. is going to put a ban on this app very soon. And it is indeed a good news for us.

Why Tiktok should be banned as soon as possible?

 In my opinion, most of the content on Tiktok is very cringe and very awkard. There is no fresh content on the app because most of the contents are copied from Youtube and other social media platforms. Anyone is getting millions of views and subscribers by doing only lip syncing. Many videos on tiktok directly or indirectly promotes violence and sexuall harassment against women. It also promotes hatred in the name of religion and creates disturbances among various communities. It is also affecting the Youth a lot, they are becoming so addicted to this app that, they are becoming very aggresive. Few days ago, a 18 yr old boy from UP committed sucide because, he was not getting enough likes , views and subscribers on Tiktok. This shows how badly this app is influencing the youth's mind. Tiktok also has been accused of spreading violence.

My Opinion:-

In my opinion,it should be banned immediately not just because it is a chinese app, but it also creating a wrong impression in our youth's mind. It is indirectly provoking the youth to commit sucide and  also indirectly promoting violence and sexual harrasment against women. Without a 2nd thought, it should be banned in India forever.

On Tuesday(5th May 2020) Manav Singh, a 17 year old class 12 student commited sucide after he was accused of harassing and molesting a girl.  The deceased, a resident of DLF Carlton Estate, Gurugram jumped from the balcony of his flat on 11th floor of the building at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Now Rishi Singh, brother of Manav Singh  has issued a statement on social media asserting that his brother was not a rapist and added that it had nothing to do with the Bois Locker Room, since the incident for which he was accused is said to be two years ago. So acording to Rishi's post ,two days before Manav commited sucide, a girl named Bhavleen Kaur posted a story on instagram and accused his brother of molesting and harrasing her at an event which took place 2 years ago when Manav was 15 years old. Starting  Of The Controversy Bois Locker Room   We all know about the recent  infamous 'Bois Locker Room' incident which  has created a storm over the social media. For the unaware, an Instagram group chat by the name “Bois locker room” where a bunch of male students, majority of whom are teenagers from different schools (Yes, schools) shared objectionable pictures of women, including underage girls, objectified them, made “jokes” about their body  .
